There's No Place Like Home

I just wanted - NEEDED - to take a moment and make a blog entry... three BIG reasons:  1) to let you know that I am now home  2) to attempt expressing (no matter how feebly I am doing this at the moment) how overwhelmed I am by your own blog entries, support, prayers, meditations and thoughts... and 3) my admiration and depth of love I have for Stephen ...and that I see so beautifully and bountifully returned back to me by his very presence.

He has surpassed any and all expectations I have had for his caregiving skills and ability to pay attention to the details of my healthcare.  He is a truly my most devoted advocate and supporter.

I am still, feeling very weak - and typing this is draining my energy for the moment.  I won't baby myself - but I must sign off for now.

It is soooooo good to be home!

My love to you all...
Layne

Yea Layne - Home Sweet Home !!! Remember what mom said....drink lots of liquids (and then pee it all out) , get lots of rest...don't let the bed bugs bite. And my own personal favorite, EAT DESSERT FIRST. Wishing you a continued speedy recovery and lots of love and hugs. Steve, your rock!!..... to put up with Layne when he is grouchy and grumpy is medal worthy. Cheers to you both. Anne Q

Layne,

Great news that you are home! Our prayers are with you. You are darn lucky to have St. Steve there by your side.

Layne,
So happy to hear you are home!!! There is nothing like your own bed and other creature comforts to enable recuperation. Out of curiousity, did KP give you a heart shaped hugging pillow for when you cough? My father was given one and it sure helped him and the shape of the pillow had merit for its use. Take care and tell Steve that he has been given a gift he didn't know he had.
Always,
Carolyn

I hope that by today, you're feeling even better. It's great that you're home in your own bed -- with Steve waiting on you hand and foot (?!)

Best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

Hi Layne: I have tried several times to do this blog thing and now trying again with the help of Andrea! Hopefully this will reach you.

You have been in my prayers.

A funny story - I stood in front of an old set of vestments (right down to shoes) in the Basillica Musuem. The vestments were worn by Cardinal Sheehan. It was just before your surgery. I called Andrea over and said we need to pray for Layne in front of these vestments since they are so well accesorized! Of course, you know me, I thought this was Bishop Fulton Sheen who you admired!! We did laugh but most important we thought of you.

I thank God for your return home. Hugs to you, Ann

HI Layne,
Glad you are doing well. Thought I would stop in and make sure you were still ticking. Here at the office it is slow so don't worry you are not missing much. Take care and we will speak with you soon. P.S thanks for having Steven call me and give me an update. Chuck sent out a company wide email letting everyone know you were doing much better and at home. But I am sure you already knew that....

Hello Layne:

I'm so glad to hear you are back home and on the mend. I tried commenting on your blog before but just couldn't get it to work. We are all so thankful to Steve for his constant care of you and keeping us apprised on your status. I miss our conversations with you dearly. Looking forward to you being your good "new" self! I think about you and your progress regularly. Come back soon, my friend.

Layne,
we are so happy that the surgical procedure went fine, you are home now and look to be healing back to normal...whatever normal is.

Our thoughts are with you... Here is a hug 1/2 way across the country.
